I have a portable blasting pot. I says it can run on as little as 7cfm@ 80psi. what would be the best portable compressor for this equipment?

Thanks

Hello Frank. Good of you to visit and drop me a line.

The rule of thumb is that you'll get around 4 CFM of compressed air at 90 PSI for each HP of compressor motor you have.

I have been critiqued for this rule of thumb before, as of course, it depends on the efficiency of the compressor as to whether or not you get that, but as a guide, it works pretty well.

In your shoes then, a 1.5 HP compressor should be sufficient. On the other hand, once you have a compressor, you almost always tend to add more tools or more applications, meaning you will need more air.

If it were me, I'd buy as big a compressor as I could afford, and that my power supply could handle. My ideal compressor is a 5HP 220 Volt on a 60 gallon tank.... we can dream can't we? :-)

Cheers,

Bill
