Can't find connector to fit 40400

by Maggie G

I can't find connector to fit the compressor. I have tried a 3/8 inch and it is too big and a 1/4 inch is too small.

Good news about info on compressed air couplings
by: Bill

As Doug says in his comment, you can acquire "industrial" or "automotive" coupler kits.

But then you have to make sure that you get the correct connectors to work with the couplers.

So get a couple of kits, whatever style you want, to be sure that you have enough of the correct connectors for all your air tools, and that way you can be sure that all your connectors fit in the couplers.

I did get help from someone at Harbor Freight Tools. I needed to unscrew a piece that was there when I bought the reconditioned compressor and add a connector.

connector (coupler)
by: Doug in s.d.ca

It looks like this doesn't come with a coupler. That's fine.

It is 1/4 inch PIPE thread, according to the manual, page 2, specifications.

So yeah, get one of those kits Bill mentions.

The "industrial" style is more prevalent than the "automotive" style, but it's your choice.

Connector
by: Bill

Maggie, while I'm not sure, I think what you are saying is that you cannot find a connector that fits the discharge coupler of your air compressor, is that correct?

That being the case, with the compressor off and the tank emptied of all air, remove the discharge coupler from the discharge line of the air compressor and see the thread size needed for a new one. See the NPT page for inch sizes of NPT threads so you can determine which yours is.

Then, visit your local big box store, or better yet, compressor store, and purchase a new discharge coupler kit, which comes with the correct connectors for it. Install those connectors in your air tools, and you are back in business.

Here's an example of a kit below.

Cheers,

Bill

I need a pressure switch for my CP 40400

CP40400 pressure switch

CP40400 pressure switch

Sorry, in the first message i uploaded the wrong photo.

I need the part which has been circled (oval) in the photo included. According to the manual's diagram it's the air pressure switch and the on-off switch.
Where can I find a source for CP air compressor parts?
I decided to replace the entire part (parts) rather than have another go bad later.
Thanks,
Bob

Parts for 40400
by: Bill

Bob, while it is true that OEM parts for the 40400 are in short supply, many of the parts on this compressor can be replaced by almost standard parts from other compressors.

In particular, there is nothing unique about the pressure switch or the regulator on the 40400.

I suggest you remove both from your air compressor after cutting the power and draining any air in the tank, and take those parts with you to stores in your area that sell compressors.

Since the parts in question are fairly common, I expect some of these stores will stock comparable equipment for you.

If you are not sure about the pressure switch or regulator see those pages on this site for more details.

Part for 40440
by: Bill

Good day Jose.

Is this the part of your Central Pneumatic Compressor 40440 that is at the end of the line from the pump and goes into the tank?

If so, if you Google - Central Pneumatic 40400 Air Compressor Check Valve 90deg - you will find a source. The one I was $14.95.

If it is not the tank check valve that these parts came from, then start a new thread and upload a couple of photos of where the part came from on your compressor.

Cheers,

Bill
