overload trips once evry morning before we open.

We had a 3phase 208v compressor that the tank developed a leak. We replaced it with a smaller single phase 208v unit.

The compressor runs great all day has no problem keeping up with demand.

Every morning for the last month the overload on the back of the motor has been tripped. We push the reset and the compressor will run great all day, next morning same thing. We though the first compressor might have an issue so this is the second same type unit and it has done the same thing for the past week.

Dan, I think I'm going to rely of some experts out in visitor land to try to help you with this one. Anyone have any ideas?

One this that is not clear, are you shutting the compressor off before you close down for the night, or, is the compressor left on? Reason I ask is that the reset is often motor-heat related, and if for some reason the compressor would be running too long at night...?

Cheers

Bill

The compressor is left on since this compressor runs a self serve air station as well as running the tool's in our repair shop. The weather for the last month has not got above 75degrees and the mornings have been in the low 40's. We do not have many customers that come in late at night or early morning to use the services. I know that the overload would trip due to heat or if the unit had power issues. However during business hours after we have reset the overload the compressor turns on and off all day long no matter how many tools we have running at the same time. And I have checked the compressor about an hour after the repair shop closed and the compressor was still online the voltage was still at 208v and I watched as the compressor went through two more cycles on and off.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like something happens to the power supply during the night, but aside from sort of spike while the compressor is running, I don't know why you have to reset it every morning.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks,

Bill
