I was having trouble with my compressor blowing it's breaker at cut in pressure. I have disassembled and reassembled the pressure switch. I now realize I have to manually press the on/off button on the switch to activate the unloader valve. Once the unloader valve has unloaded the compressor will not blow the breaker at cut in pressure. I'm wondering if I'm missing a spring in the on/off button on the switch? Photo attached.

The pressure switch mechanism is supposed to, as the switch toggles power on or off to your compressor motor, also open the unloader valve when the compressor starts, and close the unloader valve when the compressor is running.
You are not normally expected to do this manually.
Your pressure switch is malfunctioning and not toggling the unloader valve automatically.
I don't know if it's missing a spring or not, but sometimes, it sure feels as though I'm missing a screw or two. :-)
