Older quincy blows breaker

I purchased an older quincy 214 compressor driven by a baldor 5hp motor.
Before even installing it I had the motor completely overhauled by a reputable baldor dealer with new capacitors, bearings, etc.
The plate specifies 30A circuit. I ran a dedicated 30A 110 circuit to the motor (it is set up for 110 but can be 220).
It will start and run with no effort for maybe 30 seconds and blow the breaker.
Nothing is getting hot but there is really no time for it to get hot. I am at a loss. As I write this I wonder if perhaps something about the 220/110 wiring option to the motor is wrong but if that were the case I would not think it would run at all, ideas?

Bill says...Starts up fine, runs 30 seconds, then blows the breaker... hmmm, during that 30 seconds, are you seeing any pressure rise in the tank at all? Should be some.
My thoughts are, if you are seeing pressure rise in the tank, that it could be a faulty pressure switch.
I'm not an electrician, but like yourself, I would think that if the wiring to the compressor were that wrong, it would blow the breaker right away, not after 30 seconds.
Cheers,
Bill
