Old Wayne "Junior" Horizontal Two Stage - threaded bolt, very thin, screwed into the crank arm, is bent
by Bryan Bridges

I have this old Wayne that I am restoring. I opened up the crank case today after draining out the oil and found the inside was in good shape except this threaded bolt, very thin, screwed into the crank arm, is bent. Looks like it hit the cam on the edge of the slot it was suppose to fall into. Is this a major issue. The pump runs, no shaking or rattles. I just wanted to replace the old seals that were leaking.
I am a middle school shop teacher and I am restoring this and other vintage tools with my kids on the side. I just want them to see how real tools were made and how they work.

Hi Bryan. I am delighted to post this for you for some kind mechanic to comment on. Good on you for introducing kids of today to the "real tools" of yesterday, which are few and far between nowadays, it seems.
How about it. Any mechanically oriented or machinist type individual out there able to comment on the bent bolt?
If it were my air compressor, and there were not symptoms associated with the bent bolt, and I could not find a replacement, I'd still run the compressor... but that's just me. :-)
Cheers,
Bill
