Oil vs oilless air compressor

by Warren Johnson

1) Does an oiled compressor have a possibility of spitting out oil when using an air gun?

I have a frame shop and don't want to possibly damage customer's art work when dusting off the artwork.

2)Is an oilless compressor safer?

Answer to number 1... is yes. Any oil lubed air compressor puts oil into the air stream. Less if it's new, more as the compressor ages and seals start to leak as a result of wear.

Answer to number 2... safer from what? Putting oil into the air stream? Usually yes.

Bill
