Oil plug pops off after running for a few minutes

The oil plug on my compressor forcibly pops off after running for a few minutes. When replaced, will run again for a few minutes before popping off again. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Hi Jeff. If you are getting an air pressure build up in the oil sump, and the oil plug has it's vent plugged, then the increasing pressure would blow the plug out.

Is there not a vent in your plug?

Second, why are you getting air into the sump? You may have a ring problem and air is blowing by into the sump.

Whoops!
