Oil capacity in air compressor

by Mike

I have a Sears 4 hp 24 gallon 240 volt compressor, model number 919-156640. It was purchased new in the early 90's, but I cannot find the manual to it and Sears said it is discontinued. I would like to know how much oil it needs to be filled with?

Thanks
Mike

Happy to post this, Mike. I don't know, perhaps another visitor can provide the info.

It were me, I'd drain all the oil from the sump.

Then, starting with a full quart bottle, I'd either watch the sight glass while I slowly filled the sump, or kept checking with the dip stick as I slowly filled the sump, until it was at the right level.

Then, I'd check the level in the bottle, and that would tell me the amount I added to the sump, and the correct amount in future when I changed the oil.

Cheers,

Bill
