Nomenclature for Type 30 compressors

I have an IR Type 30 model 242 5C1 and am quite curious to know what the differences between the many variations of the 242 series. I have seen A, D, my own 5C and on this site even an mg...


Can someone please direct me to a site where I can find such information?

I've not seen such info in one place, but the differences are something like Mercedes cars used to be - pretty much the same from year to year, with incremental improvements. That, and the "power" which goes from models that need only a couple HP to a hundred or more, with CFM (volume) and pressure up to 1000PSI.
