No tank air pressure

by George Allen

The motor and compressor runs fine; compressor sucks in plenty of air. I removed a air line between the compressor and tank and turned on the compressor - it seems to be pushing adequate air through that line towards the air tank. I checked the tank condensate and found no water in the tank. It has to all be in the pressure regulator system but I know little about it.

It is a pancake style compressor, for whatever that's worth.

Hi George:

If you remove the load from a poorly performing air compressor, like undoing the line from the head to the tank, then you will feel flow, as there is no back-pressure loading the compressor. It's the pushing of the air against that buildup of air pressure in the tank that makes compressors manifest a problem.

Your problem could be drive train, valves or gaskets, it's impossible to determine from afar.

Please have a read of this information to see if it helps.

Cheers,

Bill
