new 60 gal husky air comp. turns on, build 10psi and stops

Hi there, Jorge.

Please unplug it, drain the air tank to zero.

Remove the cover of the pressure switch, being very careful in that there are electrically live connections inside.

Plug in your air compressor again, and watch the internals of the pressure switch as air pressure begins to rise in the tank.

The pressure switch should have already tripped to on when you drained the tank. Therefore, power should be flowing to the motor as soon as you plug your air compressor in. The pressure switch should not need to do anything at this point.

When the pressure in your air tank reaches the factory cut out setting of your switch, then it should trip to turn the compressor motor off, by interrupting the electrical flow to the motor through the pressure switch.

If, in your case, the pressure switch trips to off at 10 PSI, and the compressor stops, then it is likely you have a problem with your pressure switch and if it were me, I would take the air compressor back, and say give me a new one that works.

Cheers,

Bill
