My proforce powermate doesn't work

by Nick
(Indiana)

Hello,

My boss was trowing his old proforce powermate two gallon away saying it doesn't work... so i took it thinking i could fix it.

When i plug it in the light on the switch comes on, but the motor doesn't turn on. I read all your articles and checked all of it. It lead me to the pressure switch, but this compressor doesn't have one(at least i can't find it)

Another thing is I don't think he ever drained it when finished, there for when i opened the drain screw brown liquid came out, i drained it all, and still nothing. But I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Also, there is a black, red and white wire, which is which? hot, neutral, ground etc...

Thank you!

Hey Nick. Nice to hear from you.

I'm betting that your compressor has a pressure switch somewhere. The compressor would be far to dangerous without a method of controlling the on/off. Here's more info on pressure switches.

If you send your question back in, include a picture of your unit, so I can see what's what, will you.

You need to find the pressure switch to see if it's reacting to the fact that you've plugged it in, and it should be switching to allow power to flow to the motor.

I'm not sure where your wires are from. Maybe they went to the pressure switch that isn't there any more?

Cheers,

Bill
