my husky air compressor wont shut off.

I have bought 2 new pressure switches and my compressor still wont shut off.

When the pressure reaches its normal pressure of 175 lbs the points will open and the unloader valve will start to leak but the compressor keeps on running until I throw the breaker.

The points will stay open until the pressure drops below 135 lbs.

I can restart the compressor anytime, whether the points are open or closed by the breaker. Its like the pressure switch is irrelevant. What could be wrong?

wiring pressure switch

What Bill said, plus - you don't say what husky you have.

There may be a "magnetic starter" (a relay similar to the one on a car starter motor) which is operated by the pressure switch. The starter could be stuck closed.

Husky won't stop

Bill, from the sounds of it, the pressure switch has wonky wiring.

Take the cover off the pressure switch and have a close look at where the wires from the power source are connected, and also where the wires from the motor side are connected.

It sounds to me like there is a wiring mix up there.
