My compressor will work up to 60psi and then continues without stopping

I've got a Porter Cable 3 gallon 2.5HP compressor. Check valve sounds okay and bleeder valve sounds okay. Want to know if it's the leaf valves that cracked.
First thing I noticed about this compressor before this happened was that the cut-out pressure changed from 150psi to about 140psi. I kept on using it until the 60psi limit occurs. This limit doesn't appear to be caused by the compressor pressure switch box but from a failure to build up pressure beyond the 60psi.
I have purchased your book even though I pretty much have learned all the basics that you have put in there. I repaired another compressor (60 gallon 5HP) becuase it was failed check valve issue. I don't service compressors that much, but the basic concepts are all understood. Just need some more guidance and more experience in servicing my own compressors. Also, where can I find the torque specs. should it become necessary to rebuild my recipricating oil-less compressor motor?

Hi Tom...The dropping pressure level of the cut out pressure setting would suggest that the pressure switch is failing.
I understand that your compressor will now cut in, but stay at 60 PSI and not get past that pressure level?
That's the symptom of an intake valve or internal gasket issue. When your compressor is running, are you getting a "huffing" out the intake port? That implies a failed valve.
Good luck, and thanks for buying my eBook.
