Hi Kevin: It would be useful if I knew is this a sudden change, or has the problem been around for a while? The compressor worked properly for you at one time, did it?

There are a number of common problems why a compressor won't build pressure. Here they are.

That yours is labouring after 20 PSI might mean that the check valve into the tank is the problem, or you've got a wearing out motor or a mechanical issue.

Sorry, I can't be any more specific than that.

Cheers,

Bill

This problem started after i hooked it all up for the first time i took my motor and pump off a 20 gallon compressor an place it on a 60 gallon tank
_____________

If it worked properly on the previous tank, then it's obviously something not done on the new tank.

Moving a compressor head from one tank to another shouldn't cause this problem.

If the motor is labouring after 20 PSI, something is causing an increasing load.

Make sure the plumbing from the pressure switch and unloader valve is correct.

Did you pull and check the one way check valve into the tank?

Bill
