My compressor just goes to 25 psi

i plug my compressor in and it runs great and gets to about 25 psi and then slows right down and to were its like its under loads of pressure but just wont keep pumping up.

Bill says...

When you say it won't keep pumping up, does the motor still run at the same speed, and the air pressure just stops rising? Or does the motor seem to slow as if something was stopping the motor?

The former might be an intake valve or leaking internal gasket issue.

The latter might be just that the motor is wearing out.

Here are a few issues that cause these symptoms.

Cheers,

Bill

25 psi

i can turn my compressor on there is no leaks in the system it runs at a high speed and then when it reaches 25 psi it just slows right down and i can turn it off and listen for leaks and theres nuthing at all anywere and turn it right back on.

It will start off fast agian and then slow right back down and just keep pumping air but it wont raise into the tank anymore

25 psi issues

What do you mean by 'it slows right down and the air wont rise'? Does 'it' refer to the compressor? Air? or what?

What do you mean by air won't rise? The air pressure does not increase after reaching 25 psi?

Do you mean that the Air Compressor operates smoothly at 0-25 psi range, and by reaching 25 psi then the compressor immediately stops its operation?
If that is the case then adjust the pressure settings so that the maximum cut out pressure will reach operating pressure/s.

It doesn't sound like it's the pressure switch, Mr. Sorlozer.

why pressure won't build up
by: Sorlozer

I think there might be leakage within the system. By referring to the system, I am talking of your air compressor, receiver, and other components involved in the ACS. Also include the demand equipment / machine that is using the compressed air. If the leakage is high (check hose leaks, regulators, pressure reducers, pressure relief valves, etc), then it is inevitable that the pressure will not build up at a certain point, or will go down eventually, if the leak flow rate is greater than the flow rate that the compressor can produce. Also, check your compressor settings. Maybe it is set that the maximum pressure is 25 psi, meaning that after reaching 25 psi as shown in the pressure gauge, the motor stops running, thus ending the compression cycle. I think you have to elaborate more on the problem itself.

Yes, but, when you say it won't keep pumping up, does the motor still run at the same speed, and the air pressure just stops rising? Or does the motor seem to slow as if something was stopping the motor?
