my compressor gets to 80 psi and does not stop and does not go higher

usually went to 90 psi and kicked off. now it does not do that anymore but keeps running.

Ben, my first thought is that your compressor has an intake valve failing.

It also could be a gasket letting go inside the pump as the tank pressure, and therefore back pressure, rises.

Had Same problem with a Craftsman

It was the head gasket leaking would not go above 80 psi and would keep running and not shut off
