My compressor starts, but never stops.

Jorge, could be a number of things.

In order to be specific, you need to tell me what is happening on the compressor while it's running.

Is it building pressure to a certain level and no further, or is it building any pressure at all.

Please post your reply as a comment here so I can find the original post.

Cheers,

Bill

Compressor not hitting correct level
by: Anonymous

Hello just brought a 2nd hand compressor 50litre one, it says on the side 8bar but i can only get it to go to around 5bar and the motor just keeps going and dont build up anymore.

I tried it in my porch with both doors closed so dont no if air was a problem wouldnt have thought so.

my compressor

my compressor is a 4.5 gallons and its fills up fine but it doesnt stop. I dont know wether is the pressure valve i check the piston an its not crack.

If the pressure goes past the normal cut out pressure level, then I would look to changing out the pressure switch.

If the compressor tank pressure reaches a level below normal cut out, the pressure stabilizes at that lower level, and the compressor still runs, then I would first look to the intake valve and then a gasket failure as causes. See this topic linked from the Troubleshooting page.
