My binks 33-1036 compressor is blowing off air when it starts up which is common . But mine is blowing off for about 5 minutes and maybe longer. Do you have an Idea what I need or should do to stop this problem.

Cold weather compressor oil

5w-30 synthetic seems to be the current favorite, Art. Just make sure it's compressor oil and not automotive.

Can you get a shot of or describe the inside of the part that's mounted?

Also what weight oil would I use for as low as -27c. I have 30 weight in it now but it seems sluggish

Doug, the other line comes from the tank itself. The line is taken off the branch of an iron tee and the blow off is in the top of the tee. The barbell is solid and I think it goes into a hole but I am not sure. That is my problem, where it goes. Hope this helps. Maybe out there someone has the same Binks that can contribute to my dilemma. thanks art

Don't recognize that. I'm thinking some kind of check valve, but I don't see how it would work.

Does the thing on the end of the barbell piece have a hole, or is it in a hole?

You say one tube goes to the unloader - and the other one goes where? The pump head somewhere?

Binks compressor images
by: Arthur

Doug, it is Art here again. I have included some pictures so you can see what I am talking about.

I took the plug out of the side of the compressor and when I did (I thought all the pressure was off) the pin ,spring ,seat popped out on me and I am not sure what went where to put it all back in. Hope you can enlighten me .

Where I took the plug out it had 2 small air lines attached to it as you can see in the picture and one of the went to the unloader.

Good you got it working right.

There used to be one posted, but link seems to be dead now.

Maybe someone out there has it and can upload it.

Meanwhile, see

if you haven't already.

Air blowing off

Doug, I did take the uploader apart and cleaned it. Now the compressor is working fine , thanks for the info. Do you know if there a schematic out there so I can print off.
Thanks Art

Just crud - probably oil or even carbon type deposits, making the valve sluggish.

There could also be a problem on the bottom of the pump that feeds it, but let's hope not and do the easy stuff first.

blowing off
by: Doug in s.d.ca

Right.

That would be the unloader built into the pump if I understand you.

It's probably just gunked up - A good cleaning will probably fix, barring broken or damaged internal parts.

Doug I am sorry that I did not mention where it is blowing off air. It is blowing from the top of the compressor. I would call it a relief valve (being a plumber)when it starts up to let the pressure off the head.. I noticed it stays open longer when the temperature drops. On summer days there is no problem.
thanks art

Can you more specific? From whence does the air come?
