my 35 gallon magnum air compressor will not run

by michael

after using my 35 gallon magnum air compressor it just stopped running. I know i am getting power to the unit. Could this be a pressure switch problem or the red button switch that sets on top of the motor?

Michael, thanks for writing in.

Please, as a comment here so I can follow our discussion, give me some more details.

When it just stopped running, was the air tank full of air? Did the pressure switch trip off?

When you say you know you are getting power to the compressor, do you mean that you know it's live to the pressure switch, but if the pressure in the tank is below the normal cut out pressure setting of the pressure switch, do you know if you are getting power from the switch to the motor?

Cheers,

Bill

I'm having the same problem. I think it has something to do with the red reset switch I just can't find parts for it any info would be helpfull.

Look at the compressor from the compressor side, not the motor side and there will be a black hidden reset switch, press it and it should be running.

35 gallom compressor will not run

hey bill, thanks for responding to my question. To answer your question I was 30-40 feet away from compressor using the air hose and noticed the pressure dropping and no compressor running. I am almost positive the pressure switch did not trip. I probably need to get a voltmeter or circuit reader to see if I am getting power from pressure switch to the 120 volt electric motor as you had mentioned. If you or any one else has any suggestions please leave me a comment. Thanks again

Turn off compressor, dump all the air from the tank to zero PSI, close drain, plug back in or turn on. Monitor what, if anything happens, and post it as a comment here.
