My 2hp/8 gallon Northern Industrial Air compressor will not start

I have had this compressor for about 8 months and has worked flawlessly until now, when i push the button to start it nothing happens. so i plug into 2 different outlets and the same result. i have no idea what could possibly be wrong.

Good that you checked two outlest to be sure that it wasn't the power supply to the compressor, Christian.

I'm not familiar with your compressor, so the button you refer to, is it simply a "ballpoint" type switch that allows electricity to flow to the pressure switch?

If that switch is passing electricity when you push the button, and your air tank is empty, and the compressor doesn't even try to start, then I'm guessing it's your pressure switch that has failed.
