Don, talk to the good folks at ENIDINE whom are, or were, in the business of vibration isolation.

In particular, they have (or had, it's been a while since I sold for them) SWR isolators. The acronym stands for Steel Wire Rope. You bold the bottom plate to the floor and the top plate to the compressor, and it's totally isolated, vibration wise, almost sound wise, and the bolts will keep it in place.

Neat devices.

Will they handle the load?

As I recall, they isolate the recall from a battleship massive gun from the ships hull, and many other high stress applications, so I suspect they will have no problem with your air compressor.
