Motor quits..starts humming.

After pressure builds up the motor starts humming and will not build anymore pressure. When pressure is taken off and restarted it will build pressure. Motor is getting hot.

From what you have written, I would suspect either the capacitor or that the compressor motor itself if wearing out.

But first, make sure that you have clean power to the compressor. Any other appliances pulling power while the compressor is running, or iv you are using a too small extension cord, can cause similar symptoms.
