My kobalt compressor motor starts as strong as usual then after 20 seconds dies to a stop. Been using the compressor on the same outlet for 2 years..new issue.

Bill says...Hello Ryan. Sorry to hear that you're having trouble. It's hard to be sure with the info provided, but it sounds like the load in increasing to bring your motor to a stop.
Does the breaker pop or thermal overload pop when it stops?
The increasing load may just be the normal pressure build up that the motor can no longer overcome as the motor itself is failing. Or, it could be a mechanical issue loading the motor shaft to the point where the motor force cannot overcome it.
I'd guess the motor is going, and the fasted way to check is to take it to an electric motor rebuild shop in your area, have them test it, and if they find that the motor is going, they can probably rebuild or replace it, depending on which is lower cost.
Cheers,
Bill
