Monkey Ward Compressor

I have a 2HP Heavy Duty Montgomery Ware compressor, orange color 20 gallon tank, 8.8 SCFM @ 40 PSI, 7.4 @ 90 PSI, Art No. XER-6475, 230 volt, max working - 125 psi, I believe it's a 1978 model, 12 amp electric motor. Won't run, tried the reset switch on the back of the motor, motor won't even hum.

Have you ensured that power is flowing from the pressure switch to the motor circuit?

If so, and you get no response from the motor, it is possible that the starter / start capacitor has failed.

Looking for a picture of a MW paint spray air compressor.

I found a Montgomery Ward (Master Craft) air compressor in a thrift store. It is perfect working condition. A broken pulley and dirt and crusty old oil, but nothing I can't fix. I'm looking for an original picture of a new one for the color scheme. I'm planning to restore it, but I want it to look original. It is a Model 39A169 according to the nameplate. The motor plate is scrubbed of writing, I think it might say 1/4HP, but I'm not certain. I would just like to know what it looked like on the outside, originally.

61-9122 What kind of oil?

What kind of oil do i use for an montgomery ward air compressor model # 61-9122?
_______________
Eric, I could not find any description of what the model 61-9122 is nor what it looks like.

If it is the smaller, portable, Montgomery Ward compressor then go with the recommendations on the oil pages of this site. Or, you can even see the video.

If yours is a more complex model, maybe you could shoot a couple of digital photos and upload them in a new posting and we can have a look.

Cheers,

Bill

XER parts

You probably can't.
Depending on what it needs, you may be able to substitute comparable parts, or in the case of gaskets, make them.
