This is an auction purchase that I am using to replace a blown up pump on a newer 80 gal tank. There are a few model numbers cast into different parts, but the one on the crank case is "Model D799". "Made in the USA" is nice. I mostly want to know if i can spin this pump counter clockwise, since my 5 hp motor only spins ccw. The arrow on the crankcase seems to indicate otherwise, but if it won't affect the operation or lifespan then it will save me finding a different motor. It does seem to push plenty of air when you hand crank it in either direction.

Refrigerant pump
by: Roger

This should not be a problem, since there are no fan blades on the flyhweel to cool the pump anyway. This is an old refrigeration compressor.

You can tell by the location of the intake and discharge ports, as well as the wide gasket surfaces and many bolts at the block bottom. They had to seal perfectly to prevent any refrigerant leaking from out of the sealed crankcase.

Keep an eye on the oil level though, some reefer pumps had no piston rings, since the oil and refrigerant circulated together throughout the cooling circuit.

I think the only issue is whether the thing is splash lubed. If so, then you shouldn't have a problem.
