oil free craftsman model- 919152811 tank will not fill up

by Bob
(Dubuque, Iowa)

i have a 6 hp, 60 gallon twin cylinder/oil free craftsman model- 919152811, I took the shroud off to check for leaks, couldn't find any, when I took the air intake filter off one of the cylinders were sucking air strong the other side wasn't doing anything, wondering if they both should be sucking in and hoping for some advice please, thanks Bill

Hey Bob, start by looking at the troubleshooting section linked from the sitemap page. See the pages about air compressors that run but don't build pressure. Lots of checks there.

When you have done so, add a comment here with what you found, and we'll see if we can help further.

On a twin cylinder compressor both cylinders have to ingest air and compress it.

On a two stage, air from cylinder one flow to cylinder two which drives it down into the tank.

On a twin cylinder single stage, both cylinders are driving air into the tank.

See the troubleshooting page about no air out of hose for some things to check, Don.

Post any findings here as a comment, please.

No air out of hose
by: Don Larry

Disconnected compressor hose fitting from compressor to determine if compressor was outputting air. Compressor was outputting air. Determined hose fitting was not disengaging when hose plugged in. Replaced hose fitting ($3-Home Depot) on the compressor. Working great. Thanks.

my 919.152920 25 Gal wont gain pressure

by Sean
(Corona Ca)

my 919.152920 25 Gal will not get to more than 20 on the pressure gauge. I have it set as i as i can but wont go higher.
______________
Sean, you need to read the page on regulators on this site to understand how they work. They cannot bring the pressure up higher than the pressure that is entering them.

It might also be good to see the troubleshooting section and read up on why air compressors run but do not build pressure.

If, after doing so, you have any specific questions, please add a comment here.

Cheers,

Bill

puping oil not air

by steven
(grantville ga.)

I have a 30 gallon Craftsman air compressor with a 13 horse Honda engine it runs good but its pumping oil instead of air what wrong is the air lines wrong or what is wrong
__________________
When you say it's pumping oil, Steven, are you saying that there is lots of oil in the tank and getting into the air lines?

If so, it's the same scenario as if the cars engine is burning oil.

The cylinder seal(s) may be worn to the point that oil in the sump is blowing by into the air compression chamber, or in the cars case, into the combustion compression chamber of the cylinder.
