Model 4b221 builds pressure slowly

Compressor runs, but air pressure builds very slow... Replaced the pump a few years ago with a 4b247 which is the replacement for the original 4b245.. Thinking it could be the valves?

When you replaced the pump, did it run well then?

Have you checked the intake filter?

Also check, since you likely can't hear one due to the noise of the compressor, for leaks, particularly out of the unloader valve.
