Makita Mac700 building pressure slowly

I recently purchased a Makita Mac700 to do some trim work around the house. What is the "normal" amount of time for this machine to build up to it's cutout pressure of 130psi.? I've been running it about 45 minutes and it won't pass 100 psi. But when I turn it off i don't get any significant pressure drop after hours. I broke it in properly and followed all the manufacturers procedures.

Check out the Troubleshooting page about why compressors won't build pressure.

Sounds to me like a bad intake valve or internal gasket leak.

Cheers,

Bill

installed intake valve?

Perhaps you didn't install the intake valve. This valve is not installed at factory and instructions make no mention of installing it.

My, I've not ever seen an air compressor that didn't have the intake valve factory installed. It might not have the intake filter installed, as they tend to break in transit. The intake filter will not necessarily cause a problem for pressure build, unless it hasn't been installed for a long time in a dirty environment, and the compressor ingests too much crud to operate. If you know of compressors that come without intake valves installed, my apologies, I stand corrected.
