Terri, dump all the air from the tank, then try to start it again. Any change?

If you are using an extension cord, plug the compressor directly into a socket on a power circuit that is not supplying power to anything else at the same time.

If it still won't start, the next check is the capacitors. See that page under Electrical issues on the site map page.
