Lowering the standard pressure in my compressor

by Luan

I want to lower the pressure to which my compressor compresses air quite significantly. (To about 14 psi/1 bar) Would the best thing be to buy a new switch or can I actually fiddle with the two (cut out , kick in) little screws under the pressure switch cover to lower the pressure in my compressor?

Please help!? :-)

Hi Luan. You can do anything you want with your air compressor. It's yours! :-)

However, the system is designed to work with factory settings, therefore, the cut in and cut out pressure levels are factory set for that compressor.

My question is, why do you want to adjust the factory settings? Why not just install a precision regulator (see regulators page) on the outlet, and dial the pressure down to a nice, constant 14 PSI? With a precision regulator, you'll get within .5 PSI of that all the time.

Who cares what's in the tank and compressor system, as long as you are getting the pressure to your application at the pressure you want?

Yes, you can monkey with the settings on your pressure switch if you want. I'm just not sure why you would bother?

Cheers,

Bill
