low psi in a G-Force 2hp , 21L

Gday from OZ,
i have a G-Force brand air compressor 2hp with 21L tank.
Purchased about 5 years ago ,and occasionally used.
Im hoping to use it with a small sand /bead blasting cabinet ive just bought.
My problem is that both pressure gauges are indicating maximum of only 35-40 psi
the motor no longer shuts itself off , and even after 30 mins of continuous running , it only reaches 50 psi.
originally the tank would fill in about 5 mins ,and the motor would shut off.
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.

Good day, Peter. You aren't alone with the problem of a compressor that keeps on running, but won't build pressure.

I'm thinking you have a dried out and failed gasket.
