Low pressure limit on the tank is too low.

We have a Speedaire compressor model no. 4B236B. Can I raise the low pressure limit on the tank so I don't fall below my pneumatic tool minimum requirements?

Hi Peter. Yes, you can. In fact, you can do anything to your compressor you want... but!

Your pressure switch limits have been set by the folks that designed and then had your compressor built.

If you adjust the low pressure cut in to a higher pressure, your compressor will cycle more often. That may be deleterious to it's life.

It is normal for the spring settings on the pressure switch to have been sealed so that if they are adjusted, they will show that the spring was tampered with, which may void any warranty.

In any case, it sounds to me like your compressor is too small for the tool you wish to use.

Having said that, look at the photos of the pressure switch, and note that on one end of it, after you've removed the lid and pulled the plug, of course, there are normally two threaded rods running up inside of springs. On those threaded rods are nuts.

Tightening and / or loosening these nuts will change the cut in and cut out settings. I don't know which, on yours, is which. Look under the pressure switch cap to see if there is a diagram.

Good luck with it. I think increasing the cut in pressure level on your compressor may be a recipe for early compressor failure but then, it is your compressor, isn't it? :-)
