How do you take off the top of a kobalt digital air compressor

by Donald
(Pennsylvania)

My 22 gallon kobalt digital air compressor does not compress air and I think I need to put oil in it but do not know how to take the top off of it.

Are you using digital air or analog air?

Just kidding.

What model? Is there no info in the manual?

Kobalt 2-HP 30-Gallon Air Compressor Drain valve hard to reach and stuck

by Vince H.
(Cottonwood, AZ)

I have had the compressor for about 8 months. The drain valve is so close to the ground I have to tilt it back to get hold of the valve to open and then set it back upright to drain. Then tilt it back and close the valve and set it back up. It has been a real pain. It has now got to the point it will not totally close, it now leaks air all the time. I have seen this complaint of the valve clearance to the floor often. Is there some idea of a modification to resolve this problem. I can order a new drain valve, hopefully, but I will still have the same problem. The only other idea is get larger wheels and raise it up so you can reach under to open/close valve without laying on the floor to reach it.

Tank drain
by: Bill

Yes Vince, it's almost like the manufacturers downplay the need to drain the tank regularly.

I've added a brass elbow where the tank drain valve was removed from, used an instant fitting to add a 4" piece of poly tube, and installed a mini-ball valve on the end of the tube so that I simply have to turn the ball valve and drain the tank, since the ball valve can be sitting to one side of the tank, or, using a cable tie, secured to one of the legs of the tank.

If you use your compressor a lot, consider an auto drain. See that page under tanks on the sitemap page.

Link or Source for KOBALT AIR COMPRESSOR Parts

by Jackie
(Makawao, HI , USA)

I just purchased a KOBALT #221495, Model #LLA1683066 that was on sale for $329.00 at Lowe's. I have not yet started or used the compressor. This morning I have found out that repair parts, V-belt, 2-air filter eements, etc, are not stocked in store & have to be ordered away. Checking on-line reveals many replacement parts such as mentioned above are obselete or unavailable. I would appreciate leads to a source where I may obtains parts? Thank you.

Jackie, the Kobalt air compressor is the house brand of Lowes. I suspect, but don't know, that the Kobalt company is a subsidiary of Lowes. I can tell you that when you get to the Kobalt website, and ask for contact info, the page that it returns is the Lowes contact page.

It won't help you to know that this is a problem with all big-box store purchased equipment. The store hasn't the skills, the inventory, or it seems, the desire to back up the products once a customer has purchased them

Contact Lowes at:

Lowe's Customer Care
P.O. Box 1111
North Wilkesboro, NC 28656
1-800-445-6937
customercare@lowes.com

Or, find out from your Lowes store who fixed their compressors under warranty, and talk to those folks.

Good luck,

Bill
