Compressor runs continuous and won't build proper pressure

Have a Kobalt K7060 HFV single stage compressor. Bought new but several years old. Suddenly started to run continuous without building pressure. Emptied tank and switched on. Will build to 20 lbs and continues to run. I can turn off manually. Don't detect any air leaks. Does not make any unusual noise.

Tommy... same answer.

1) gasket failure, 2) valve failure.

Unless there is something different about your compressor and it's ability to build pressure.

I'm having the same issue with mine except it will build to 45 psi and will not go any higher. Valves or ring problems?

If no leaks out of tank drain or unloader valve, and you aren't feeling air huffing out the intake port, the belt isn't slipping and there is no air wafting out of the oil fill port, then I'd guess 1) gasket failure, 2) valve failure.
