Kobalt 1.5 HP, 10-gallon, Digitech Plus no air

Kobalt Digitec air compressor

Kobalt Digitec air compressor

The compressor is not used that often.

However, has a history of overheating easily.

Problem is there is no air on the outlet???

Display reads "0" for outlet as well.
It has done this before, shut off, drain and restart.

But now it will not work.

Compresses fine and shuts off as normal.
Just no air on the outlet???

I would suspect the electronic regulator
by: Bill

Jim, the fancy "digital" regulator is likely pooched.

From what you've written you've got lots of air in the tank, but since the regulator isn't working, the air cannot get past it to the discharge coupler or down to the air tool.

I don't have a lot of good things to say about these "digital" regulation systems on cheap air compressors.

It were mine, I'd replace it with a manual, turn the knob, type.

See the page on "no air out of hose" for a step by step check about isolating the compressor problem.

Help re & re the Digitech regulator on a 241345 KLA1581009 air compressor?

How does one remove and replace the Digitech regulator on a Kobalt 241345 KLA1581009 air compressor?

You have said that you would remove the digitech regulator on these Kobalt air compressors. What and where would you suggest I get the right one to replace mine with? Is it a simple job? The digitech does not allow proper pressure on mine and the screen is cracked. A new digitech monitor is $125 alone.

Help re & re the Digitech regulator
by: Bill

Well, Seth, when you're done, the compressor won't be pretty.

If this were mine I'd mount a manual air regulator on the housing, and plumb the line from the compressor tank to it, and then, a line from new regulator to the discharge coupler.

Is it difficult? If you aren't handy with tools and a bit of an out of the box thinker, yes, I guess it would be.

And, if you need your compressor to remain pristine in appearance, then you don't want to chop up the housing.

But, if you want the compressor regulator to work, and you don't want to spend hundreds in so doing, a general purpose manual regulator is around $30 or so.

See the page on regulators on this site for more details.

Good luck.

Bill

Kobalt shuts off early

by Calvin Arent
(Hartford, MI)

I have a kobalt compressor less than a year old. Suppose to reach 200 psi. The compressor will shut off before it reaches 90 psi and will not fire back up. I have to unplug it and let it sit then plug it back in and it may fire back up but doesn't get anywhere near the proper pressure.

As a comment here, please tell us about your power supply to your Kobalt compressor.

Knowing the model number would help too.

Notwithstanding that there's a place for (it) in the manual, maybe it doesn't have one.

Did you try calling kobalt?
