Kobalt compressor stops but the motor doesn't.

Max pressure is reached, compressor stops but the motor doesn't.

When the compressor reaches the max pressure, it stops, but the motor continues to turn. This only happens at routine pressure build.. When the compressor is completely empty and builds pressure the compressor and motor will stop.

This doesn't happen often, but I have had to replace the belt several times.

Looking for a solution to the issue.

Thank you,
Jimmy

stops, but not really

Sounds like your pressure switch is sick. As in burned contacts.

Check that, and if burned, you should replace it.

Not sure about the pump stopping (locks up, and makes the belt slip, apparently?) but one thing at a time.
