Kobalt Electric 241345 does not get to max pressure

by Dale
(Sunbury, Pa)

Portable 10 gallon Kobalt.

Builds pressure to 145, then stops and starts clicking. Does not get to max pressure of 155. Cuts back in at 125 as it should.
Pressure on pre-sets and in line is correct.

Dale, can you monitor and try to locate where the clicking is coming from?

If it is coming from the pressure switch, remove the cover, and watch the points. Are they jumping? If so, you will want to replace that switch.

Where is the clicking coming from?

Bill

Similar Kobalt compressor problem
by: Bel

I have a 241345 and it will build to 46 psi even though it is set on 125 psi. Continues running until it finally just quits. Then I have to hit the on switch to make it come on again even if you bleed the air off tank. what is the answer to cure it

(Reading the troubleshooting page on this site about why air compressors run but don't build pressure will likely provide the answer to your question. If not, please start a new thread. Thanks. - Moderator)

clicking
by: Dale

This model does not have traditional pressure switch. Pressure came up to 155 when I replaced o-rings. Clicking noise is still present. Will replace two solenoids next if I can find them after market.

OK, then I would suspect the digital part of the compressor controls as the source of the clicking.

Kobalt KLA1683066 slow start under pressure

I have a Kobalt KLA1683066 compressor that starts low after I pump up the tank and use a pneumatic tool which runs the pressure down and the compressor is restarting to pump the pressure back up. I've h ad the electric motor tested and it was determined to be working correctly. Is there a bleed off valve to bleed the pressure off the compressor unit for easier restart? any help will be appreciated

Terry, the first thing I would check would be the unloader valve operation. See that page on this site for more info. If that isn't it, post a comment here letting me know and we'll press on.

Kobalt 10 gallon digitec air compressor no pressure?

Kobalt 10 gallon digitec air compressor

Kobalt 10 gallon digitec air compressor

I have a kobalt 10 gallon digitec air compressor. It builds pressure in the tank but. No air comes out, It will start making a clicking sound, the pressure number drops on read out but it loses no air from tank. Don't know what to do.

Friend, it sounds as though there may be a solenoid valve involved.

I can't hear the sound your Kobalt air compressor is making, but from what you have written, and thinking back to my solenoid valve troubleshooting days, the sign of a bad valve coil was often a clicking sound.

The "digital" part of your compressor is the ability to dial up or down the pressure regulator by pushing on buttons on the "dash". I suspect there may be a solenoid valve involved with the air transfer from the tank, through the regulator, and out to the discharge coupler shown on the right of the photo, beside the PRV.

You pay extra for that privilege when something goes wrong with a digital type regulator as I suspect that fixing them may cost more than the compressor is worth.

If this were my compressor, I'd certainly pull the shroud off and have a look at what's under the hood.

If I had pressure coming into the regulator (shown by the tank gauge - if there is pressure, then it is getting to the regulator) and no pressure downstream of the regulator (identified by plugging an air line into the discharge coupler and if no air flows out air flow is being blocked by the regulator) then that isolates the regulator as the problem.

General purpose regulators are $15-$25 depending on where you buy them. They come with a manual adjustment knob and an air gauge to display the regulator setting.

It were my compressor, I'd remove the digital regulator entirely, and replace it with a relatively low cost manual air regulator.

Just my .02 cents worth!

Cheers,

Bill

You are welcome, Melissa.

I reviewed the thread and sorry, I can't figure out what you mean by "Is that one of the braided lines on top"?

Is what one of the braided lines?

Kobalt 22 gallon 1.3 hp turns on and off

by Luis
(Kissimmee )

Kobalt 22 gallon 1.3 hp turns on for 2 seconds and shuts off and turns back on by itself and repeats the cycle
______________
In order to figure out what's going on with your Kobalt compressor, it's necessary to know if the pressure switch is tripping the power on and off, or rather, what it is that is turning the compressor off. Can you monitor the power on the motor side of the pressure switch and see if the power still flows to the motor circuit as the compressor togles on and off? Assuming you have an external pressure switch, you'll need to remove the cover of it to check the power flow.

Or, does your model have the internal pressure switch, Luis?
