unhooked air line from tank and made sure motor is free but something electrical is shutting it off and after a few seconds u can turn swithc off and wait for click then try again it will start but instantly shut right back off it turns very slow then shuts off .. motor is free i can turn very easy i am thinking it is capacitors maybe but need help first

______________
Matt, you can check the capacitors. See that page linked from the site map.

That your compressor shuts down, and then you have to wait, suggests to me a thermal cut out issue.

Any change in the power supply, not using an extension cord, is the pressure switch toggling on and off as the compressor shut down occurring?

Cheers,

Bill

wont build air over a hunder pounds

i have a 150 psi max compresser it will build 150 once if i run a air gun it wontr run over 100psi

Will it run up to the 150 PSI cut out pressure level, and the compressor stops, when you are not using the air gun? If so, then the compressor is working right. If not, let me know as a comment here.

If the compressor runs and shuts off properly when you are not using air, then your air compressor is likely too small to adequately supply the gun. Either wait in between pressure drops for the tank to fill back up, get a smaller air-demand gun, or get a bigger compressor. Watch out for the duty cycle of your air compressor too.

Cheers,

Bill

Checking the oil level of my 30 gallon air compressor.

by Blas Saenz
(Santa Elena, Texas)

How do I check my Kobalt 30 gallon air compressor oil level, and what type of Oil does it use.
_______________
Blas, it would be good if you had included the model number so I could try to find a photo of it. Generally speaking though, you will find your answer linked from the site map under Oil Issues.

If the answer isn't there, either comment here with the model number, or re-post and include digital photos of all four sides of your compressor.

Cheers,

Bill
