Kargard compressor stops building pressure after about 120 psi... just under the PRV shut off...

I have a 1960 Kargard MBI-KA60-6 256 Compressor that has gone from functioning well to taking more and more time to fill the tank and now stop generating pressures over about 120 psi which is just under the PRV cut off pressure... any suggestions?

I just replaced the electric motor not too long ago because that finally gave up the ghost per se... but the compressor is starting to "act it's age" me thinks... any suggestions as to the cause?

Kargard shut down

Many, Dave.

It's not the PRV that shuts the compressor off, it's the pressure switch. The PRV - pressure relief valve - is there as a safety pressure release if the pressure switch fails to shut the compressor down at cut out.

As to the increasing length of time to build pressure, pretty much all is covered on the troubleshooting pages.

Have a look, and then post a comment here with your findings after you do the checks referred to on the those pages.
