Kaeser Sx 6 - excessive belt wear

Having belt issues with a SX 6. Two sets of belts have be used in about 12 operational hours. The compressors amp load is normal and is producing air. The compressor turns freely and has no end play. The belts have been set as the factory states with the tension spring pin at the bottom. What we think is happening the sheave is taking the load on the outboard sheave face and loading only that side. The contact pattern on the sheave is indicating a heavy load on the outboard side and light load on the inboard side. THe compressor is on an hinged plate and appears to have no adjustment to allow for sheave alignment. Any suggestions would be welcome.

By eliminating loading as a wear issue, the only other issue is, as you point out, sheave misalignment.

I find it odd that you cannot adjust the sheaves.

I take it too that you have already contacted Kaeser.

If it is a design issue, you really need to talk to them again.

If you haven't got your compressor manual, you can get one by visiting: http://us.kaeser.com/Contacts_and_More/manuals.asp .

Wish I could offer a specific solution.

Bill
