Just a question

If I run my two-stage devilbiss at it's normal driven speed will it continue to build air in the tank, or is there a formula to determine how much pressure can be achieved, based on displacement and other factors? Thank you for your help.

Hi Ron:

If you continue to run your compressor and the pressure switch has been bypassed to allow the pressure to continue to build, eventually the rising pressure will blow off the PRV.

If you disable the PRV the pressure in your compressor tank will continue to build until you either blow up a component, or the back-pressure force of the compressed air in the tank exceeds the force available from the piston to cram more air into the tank.

Yes, there is a formula to figure that out, but I don't have it. Sorry. You will have to get that from the compressor manufacturer, or an engineer who can calculate the mechanical advantage of your piston drive train and the force available on the piston surface area as it compresses the air.

Cheers,

Bill
