I have taken the cylinder cover off the piston and noticed (I think is a crack) a crack in the piston ring can you tell me if the ring needs replacing as not sure what to look for except wear which it does .

I have a JobMate 3 gallon air compressor which comes in handy for small jobs. I noticed when I was adjusting the air pressure on the regulator and noticed that it screws off; checked if it was blocked, is that normal; noticed a crack in the small ring but the large screw knob just screws back in. I just screwed both back on but no change. Thanks!

The knob just adjusts the pressure DOWN at the outlet, and does not have anything to do with the pressure built in the tank.

The ring is worn, and replacing it (and possibly the cylinder sleeve) will probably fix it.

If you can find or make the parts.

Good luck.
