ITW Paslode Model D1500HPV5 1.5 hp pancake compressor will not shut off

ITW Paslode Model D1500HPV5 1.5 hp pancake compressor with roll cage. Builds pressure fine but does not stop running. Usually it takes a minute or two to fill. Now, it runs continuously unless I flip the switch to the off position. Once I turn it back on, it doesn't run again until pressure is low. Once it starts though, it won't stop until I shut it on and off again.

Bill says....

If your air compressor runs, and runs, and the air pressure in the tank, even when you are not using the air, reaches a peak level below compressor cut off level, and goes not further, the items to suspect first and second are the intake valve not seating and leaking air back out, or there is an internal gasket leak which is allowing compressed air to flow elsewhere than into the tank.

Both issues could be dependent on the pressure in the tank either interfering with the valve, or forcing an air path through a gasket.

There is a check list linked from this page that tells you what to look for.

Cheers,

Bill
