Italian f I m a air compressor will not shut down and the safety valve kicks in at 8bar constantly blowing phut phut phut.


the unit is Italian f I m a I replaced one copper pipe fitted new regulator reaches 8 bar and the small safety valve on top of the piston block keeps popping this was a new one that was fitted.

Hey Stuart... a couple of things.

I don't have any information on your air compressor, but if the PRV is bleeding off air at 8 bar, then that suggests to me that your compressor probably has a typical high pressure cut out in the 6-7 bar range (90 - 105 PSI), or is it lower than that?

Regardless, if, when the pressure in the tank reaches cut out, and the motor keeps running until the PRV lets go, that's almost always that the pressure switch has failed and it is not opening the points when the correct cut out pressure is reached.

Make sure, when you replace the pressure switch, that you get one that has the same settings (or is adjustable) as your original.
