Is Devillbiss model ABP-446-A worth it?

by Russ Verbael

I have a chance to buy a Devillbiss model ABP-446-A compressor mounted on an 80 gal horizontal tank and powered by a 5 hp motor. The selling price is $500. Is this a good investment ?? (or should I pay a lot more for a new warrantied unit???)

Thanks

Russ

Could be a decent buy, if the motor and tank are good.

The pump could be a problem, again depending on condition. Parts are available, but if you needed a piston, say, you might have a hard time finding one, so you might have to buy a new pump if it failed.

Vintage 166879 type vcj5012 any parts and or value?

What is vintage of my no 166879 type vcj5012 and parts and or value of the machine.

Very cool old school look for a period garage theme.

Seems the starter on the motor is toast, recovery rate is slow, worn rings, sleeves I'm guessing.is it worth re building just because it looks so cool, even if just to fill tires and blow out the garage?

All I know it was last inspected in 1943. I was wondering if it is worth anything. Works like a charm.
