Hi

I have an ingersoll rand P380 compressor, it is putting oil into the air? Do you know how we can fix this problem?

Thanks

William

I believe the P380 is a rotary screw compressor? If so, rotary screws use a lot of oil as a sealant as the air is forced into ever smaller compartments as the screws turn.

As the air is expelled from the screws into the tank or the mains, it passes through an oil separator. It seems to me that if you are now getting oil into the compressed air, and it's in greater quantity than before, your oil separator needs work.

For this, you need the manual from I/R.

In the interim, you can install coalescent filters at point of use to remove oil from the airstream.

Cheers,

Bill

Oil in Air
by: Rob

William. Two quick questions.
1. What type of oil are you currently using?
2. What weather climate are you in right now?

Hi Trevor.

I must confess that I don't know why you would put oil into an oil separator. It's function is to strip oil used in the air compressor from the air stream as it exits the compressor.

Adding oil seems to me to be counterproductive.

Anyone else have any ideas for Trevor?

Bill

Oil change time for a 85 IR diesel compressor

(Wisconsin)

I have a 85 IR diesel compressor I don't have a manual for the compressor....I'm looking for answers as to what kind of oil it takes for the compressor? And how much it takes?

I have a pressure relief valve that blows off when the air hose valve gets closed and then it sprays a film of oil out of the pressure relief valve and it gets all over the engine compartment......

Any suggestions or replacement parts an or numbers would be helpful.....Thanks

oil at suction
by: Bill

Probably a good idea to start a new thread, confirming the model number, the age, and even a photo or two would help.
