Ingersoll Rand Model P185WJ cranks good but no start.

by Felix C. Holguin

Replaced lift pump; bleed injector, compressor tries to start. Just wondering if the injection pump is failing?

This an Ingersoll Rand Model P185WJD compressor. All the fuses are good, fuel is good.

Thanks
Felix

no start

Anything's possible.

How did this start (the problem that is).

Like, did it sputter and die for no obvious reason?

Run out of fuel?

Might be you just need to bleed the injector again (or a few times). Can you get a gauge on the fuel rail? That should tell you about the pump.

i have a p90 same but smaller as yours...and i have found and after paying 500 for a diagnosis...said the injector pump was bad...

it will turn right over with the sniff of ether motor starter...but not a great thing to have to do on consistent / long term basis, but it will get you running...

BE MINDFUL that you will want to disconnect the heater plate if you have one in yours or maybe even glow plugs so as to not blow up the top end with the ether.
