INGERSOLL RAND 185CFM puts out too much PSI.

Hello, I purchased a used 1995 IR 185 CFM towable compressor. I use it to do sand blasting. It is putting out too much PSI and blowing my air hose rubber seals everytime. I even tried leaving one of the service valves half open while my hose is connected to the other one to relieve pressure, but still blows the chicago coupler seals on the hoses. How do I turn down the PSI output? Do I adjust the throttle mechanism?
